EDUC 428 - Music Methods in the Elementary School Credits: 3 Integrated Music Department methods course designed to meet developmental needs of children at the elementary school level (K-5th). Emphasis on music education theories of learning and development as well as music assessment. Includes methods, materials, philosophy, lesson planning, strategies and techniques to foster effective decision-making. Introduction of music classroom instruments: piano, recorder, and guitar. Computer Technology competencies will be incorporated. A look at music instruction in relation to teaching in diverse cultural environments. A demonstrated lesson plan presentation is required. exceptional students as well as teaching music in a multicultural environment. An electronic portfolio is compulsory.
