SOWK 342 - Crisis Intervention Credits: 3 This course provides students with knowledge and skills needed to recognize and intervene appropriately in crisis situations. Also, the course explores immediate and short-term emergency responses to mental, emotional, physical, and behavioral distress. Crisis interventions help to restore an individual’s equilibrium to their biopsychosocial functioning and minimize the potential for long-term trauma or distress. Various crisis situations (i.e. homelessness, divorce, injury, unemployment, and natural disasters) will be explored.
