CHEM 301 - Organic Chemistry I Credits: 3 Serves as an introductory course to organic chemistry for students majoring in chemistry and other fields in which organic molecules and reactions have fundamental importance. The course covers nomenclature, preparation, physical, and chemical properties and synthesis of organic compounds, particularly aliphatic and alicyclic hydrocarbons such as alkanes, alkenes, alkynes as well as alcohols and alkyl halides. Lecture: three hours per week.
